At present we have only a modest range of available products but these are slowly being added to so please return to re-check this site occasionally. We are concentrating at present upon oils, balms and tinctures which retain their potency for long periods and can be easily transported.
The Thyme plant is an aromatic containing an essential oil (Thymol) which has in certain cases been shown to have a more effective antibiotic and antiseptic result than Penicillin. It is useful for skin irritations, inflammations and insect stings. If taken as an infusion (Tea) the herb is very good for debilitating illnesses such as heavy colds or Flu. Yakushi also produces a powerful Thyme oil. The Thyme herb should not be used or mixed with any other herb.
Mint is a well known herb to both cooks and herbalists and is used for much the same ailments as Thyme. Yakushi uses a combination of the dried and prepared leaves of Apple mint (for it's aroma) and Spearmint (for it's penetrative qualities). It's aroma stimulates the breath and helps clear the lungs. It is also useful for migraines and runny noses. Warm oil or Balm helps relieve aching backs and leg muscles. Good for Acne, spots and to soften dry or hard skin
This is an ancient powerful remedy to help with toothache and doesn’t seem to be produced anywhere nowadays. We have filled the gap. We occasionally also produce a Clove tincture.
This is made using the real Chinese Camphor concentrated into a carrier oil made from grape seeds. It has a powerful aroma and is usually rubbed upon the chest area so as to be inhaled as it evaporates from the body. It is a very ancient and effective remedy for dry coughs and congested breathing used by our own European ancestors as well as the Chinese.
Under its medieval name of ‘Knitbone’ Comferey leaves were used as a hot poultice to heal bone fractures and muscle tears. It is very good for a babies ‘nappy rash’ as it helps to soothe dermal inflammation and stimulate the growth of new skin tissue.
This is an ancient lotion used by monks to help relieve severely aching backs and knee joints after prolonged meditation sessions especially in cold climates. It stimulates the blood supply to where it is applied and has a warming, relaxant effect. It is also made as a balm or oil. These latter 2 forms if warmed up beforehand can provide a very rapid relief to joints.
Omamori are special protective talismans made of either metal or paper and bearing images of healing Buddhas or bodhisattvas which are carried or placed where their influence is needed. They often have esoteric Sanscrit or Chinese character mantras written upon them and are made only by Buddhist temples and must always bear their seal. Those we use come from the Tun Huang caves of China.
