Special Notice

During 1998 a group of students in Oxford were led away from their Bodhisattva vows and have since engaged in a campaign to to try and discredit our teachers. One ex member, Rupert Allison, using Oxford University resources, was particularly active on the 'Web' until his site was closed down by the authorities. His own group, led by another vociferous defector - C.Jones in collusion with various women friends of his, was a small independently functioning one under the occasional tutelage of Shifu Nagaboshi who had permitted them to act as organisers for the Oxford area. Shifu Nagaboshi withdrew from teaching them some time ago because of his reservations about the motives of the people acting as its 'officials' due to their continual misrepresentations of his views and words and because of the cult that had grown around this leader Christopher Jones.
Since then this little group has busied itself spreading spurious and fictionalised reports concerning us by means of various Web pages set up using various pseudonyms. It has also engaged in mail campaigns sending amongst other things, fictionalised pornographic letters or other similar accounts to many groups and organisations in a desperate attempt to discredit our teachers and organisation. Several ISP's have taken down their web pages due to their illegal content.

The Association membership ignores their actions and regards these Oxford people as irrelevent to those who are seriously interested in Buddhism of any form. One can only feel sad and sorry that people like these have to resort to such nasty and often very personalised forms of hatred. Many of their subsequent activities have been considered libellous and illegal and various legal restraints upon them have had to be initiated regarding them by individual members.
As all our members & groups etc quite wisely function independently only the groups and members themselves know their full extent, be it here or overseas. That this Oxford group understand little of this and imagines itself to be the only practicing group in the country demonstrates how limited and marginalised their views were and are. Jones, Alison and their women followers have done much harm to their students many of whom, despite them, continue to study, practice and apply the Buddha's teaching of goodwill, harmlessness and compassion.

We sincerely wish that this Oxford group return to that inner peace they were taught to aim for and place their mispent energies into helping others.
